How To Add Personality to Your Workwear
9-5 blues got you down?
You can add a little bit of sunshine to your day by dressing for the office with your personality in mind.
It's easy to fall into the trap of dressing like all of your coworkers.
It's unchallenging and effortless to blend in and stay on dress code.
But where's the fun in that?
There's an element of vulnerability in dressing to your true taste. In a way, it's revealing!
Lots of folks never try to uncover their personal style because dressing well makes you stand out and can make you look more like a leader.
Anyone who's ever had a glow up can tell you that, ironically, it can attract negative attention as well as positive... especially in the workplace.
Here at LGY, we say lean into that vulnerability and do it wisely. There is so much power in being an individual, and we think you should embrace it.
"But how," we hear you saying from behind your screen, "that sounds like a lot of work!"
Hang in there, we've got you covered!
Tip #1 - Wear All the Colors and stay Within ANY Dress Code
One of the most straightforward ways to add personality to your standard workwear is to throw in a pop of color. This is the perfect splash for an all-black or neutral-colored base outfit.
Bags are the easiest way to incorporate this, but hats and layers also work well.
Wether you’re wearing suits or sweats to work, you can use color to add a dash of you.
Tip #2 - Wear Accessories At Work
This might be easier than pops of color, and it works for any office dress code.
Adding a chunky statement necklace, earrings that are artistic, or even simple, pretty hair clips can totally change a look.
Hair accessorizing is underrated, if you ask us!
Unique bracelets or arm cuffs and other unconventional jewelry are uber chic, and will instantly elevate a classic look for work.
Tip #3 - Wear Menswear In New Ways to Work to Add personal style
In our current culture, gender-bending is way easier for women to get away with, but men can sneak it in too!
Ladies, don't be afraid to suit up. Channel your inner sleazy '80s business executive in a Richard Gere circa Pretty Woman kinda way.
Men can get playful with their wardrobe by incorporating traditionally feminine colors and patterns.
If you work in a creative field with more leeway in its dress code, you can even play with feminine silhouettes (if you dare). If it's cool enough for Russell Westbrook, it can be cool enough for you!

Tip #4 - Play with Sizes In Your Workwear to express your personal style more
A super subtle way to put the oomph in your outfit is to break traditional sizing rules.
Tailoring is king, and a clean cut silhouette will look good every time, but if you're itching for a change, try something oversized and not as tailored.
When applied intentionally, this can give your look a chic, fresh, effortless feel to workwear.
