You're Not Picky - You're Normal!
You think that you can’t find clothes you like because you are too picky.
It’s not the right color. It pulls funny. It’s too itchy. It’s too tight in certain areas. It’s annoying to get off and on.
It looks cheap. The print is weird. Finding a lot of clothing you love is hard.
If only you were less picky you’d have an easier time finding things.
You’re not picky. You’re the status quo. Here’s the thing.
If you’re picky, all my styling clients are “picky”. You only think you’re picky because it’s difficult for you to find clothes you feel excited about wearing, but really, you’re not picky.
You’re EVERYONE.
EVERYONE has specific preferences for their clothes.
EVERYONE has special ways they want their clothes to fit and feel.
EVERYONE is particular about what they think looks good.
EVERYONE has a unique lifestyle that they need to buy clothes for.
It’s called personal style, after all.
Take my client C for example.
She is an Art Dealer in NYC and loves creative colors, quirky prints, and architectural shapes in her clothes but her “pickiness” got in the way of finding pieces that she loved to wear. Shopping was like a needle in a haystack!
Who has time for that!?
She also hates certain prints, doesn’t like wearing printed or colored pants, doesn’t like anything that shows cleavage or her midriff, and loves a high-neck BUT not a turtleneck or anything that is too much fabric around her throat.
She also has two young kids she needs to be able to run around with and went to Princeton so she's a loves when I find things that are black and orange. (Only the RIGHT color orange, k? TRUST. I know it when I see it.)
Oh, and she also has big boobs and doesn’t like to enhance them AT ALL.
Oh, and she hates when a pant is too cropped.
Is she picky? Nah. She’s normal.
I could make a “they-so-damn-picky” list for each one of my clients.
You’re all picky!
And I love you.
